Curious & Rare was selected by Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab for a staged reading in the Jerry Orbach Theatre of the Snapple Theatre Center on 50th and Broadway. The cast starred Stephanie Rothenberg as "Mary Anning", and Jeremiah James as "Henry de la Beche" and featured William Youmans, Wally Dunn, Tracy Sallows, Joel Jones, Brian O'Neill, Elizabeth Ann Berg, Doug Shapiro, Sandie Rosa, Stacie Bono, Jack Humphrey and Mairéad O’Neill. The staged reading was very successful and received the following endorsements: 

“As not just an Anningophile, but one who had just returned from Lyme Regis two weeks earlier with Mary Anning on the brain, I must say that I attended the performance of Tracy Sallows’ musical Curious & Rare with some degree of trepidation. Ours is not a field generally treated with care by outsiders. Scientists must be brutally precise, and I consider myself no exception, so I was absolutely thrilled to follow not only a compelling adaptation of my idol’s story but one that was richly accurate with minute detail. Just like a good fossil. And I do hope this play has a similar longevity.”

Tracy was invited by the BMI/Lehman Engel Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop to present songs from Curious & Rare (the Mary Anning Musical) at a BMI Master Class guest moderated by Stephen Schwartz.

She was awarded an Anna Sosenko Trust Grant for the demo recording of Curious & Rare. Songs from Curious & Rare were chosen for “The Music Box” concert at the Signature Theatre and “Furthermore” at Urban Stages Winterfest as well as four Broadway Mother’s Day concerts hosted by Scott Coulter at Feinstein’s/54 Below  in NYC. Curious & Rare was also nominated for a Jerry Bock Award  by the BMI Steering Committee. 

Tracy is a three-time finalist for the Kleban Prize in both the Lyricist and Librettist categories.
